Microsoft BizSpark Incubation Week – DC
I’m in DC today, reviewing presentations and demos of startups participating in Microsoft BizSpark Incubation Week. As usual, there is a wide range of capability and creativity among the participating startups (6 startup companies were selected to participate). The teams have been working hard and the results are beginning to show. TakeComics has an interesting and technically sound approach to broadening the readership base of comics and leveraging the power of Windows 7 multi-touch to create an enhanced experience for the reader. The founder has one of the more compelling pitch presentations I’ve seen in a long time (a great storyteller!) Another interesting solution is by Vidizmo. They benefit from bringing video search IP from their prior services company; they provide a compelling video-based learning solution that mashes up various content and applies search to the contents of the video and associated media assets (you have to see it to believe it!) InterTouch Media Technology is another cool startup, providing out of home advertsing solutions using Windows 7 multi-touch There’s also Freeltor, Xe-Xi (pronounced “sexy”), and a student team from George Mason. All are putting together some great solutions. It is fantastic to see these compelling applications built on Windows 7 and “lighting up” by taking advantage of the new features like Federated Search, Taskbar integration, multi-touch, etc.
