Recently I dealt with a couple of service requests where customers have not been able to view reports because the warehouse and cube processing failed. I’ve just updated my August Tech Calendar post with this free, on-line event sponsored by the SQL Server Worldwide Users Group (SSWUG) .  Thanks to Rachel Appel to bringing it to my attention! On Friday, August 19th, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. ET, a number of Azure and SQL Azure experts will cover various aspects of developing and working with the Windows Azure platform.  If you haven’t yet had a chance to immerse yourself in Microsoft’s cloud computing platform, this is a convenient (and FREE) way to do so.

I’ll be off to Salt Lake City in a couple of weeks for the next OMG meeting.  One thing I’m going to try and do is get a Request for Proposals issued for a Metamodel Extension Facility that will improve and extend the current UML Profiles capability.  UML Profiles are quite popular, but the mechanism for defining them is really not very well defined, which leads to problems of interoperability and general misunderstandings about their scope.  We’ll also be meeting to work on UML 2.5, which is going too slowly for my liking, but is making forward progress. Aside from that I’ll be working on the finalization of SMOF and attending Architecture Board meetings.
