As an experiment we have started to post the Visual Studio ALM Ranger videos to Channel9 as well. The first batch is focused on the Visual Studio Architecture Tooling Guidance and the second batch are all about Visual Studio Build Customization Guidance . Sometime after Visual Studio 2010 shipped, we received reports about an issue where when targeting .NET 3.5, customers were receiving a build error stating that the RESGEN command line was too long. The errors/warnings would look as follows: Error: The specified task executable “ResGen.exe” could not be run. I’ll be off to Salt Lake City in a couple of weeks for the next OMG meeting.  One thing I’m going to try and do is get a Request for Proposals issued for a Metamodel Extension Facility that will improve and extend the current UML Profiles capability.  UML Profiles are quite popular, but the mechanism for defining them is really not very well defined, which leads to problems of interoperability and general misunderstandings about their scope.  We’ll also be meeting to work on UML 2.5, which is going too slowly for my liking, but is making forward progress. Aside from that I’ll be working on the finalization of SMOF and attending Architecture Board meetings.
