The veil has been lifted

Now that Mix10 has come and gone, I can finally talk about what I’ve been working on for the last few months.  My team, the Advanced Technology Group (ATG), has been working closely with the Windows Phone and XNA Game Studio teams in order to help with gaming on Windows Phone 7 Series.  What does that mean?  I’ve been working with developers for the last few months, gathering information on the phone, and learning the XNA GS4 APIs. I’m going to share as much as I can of what I’ve learned with the rest of you.  Hopefully, this information will be useful, and will help game developers create even more compelling games on Windows Phone. Michael Klucher and Shawn Hargreaves from the XNA team have a lot of great information on their blogs already

You are not Winston Churchill

I’m still reading the Churchill biography. And it occurs to me that he’s a very dangerous example. I can very well imagine people reading this and thinking to themselves, “Gee, I’ve stood up for unpopular positions and limited my career because of it

Windows Server 2008 R2 Rocks!

One of the things I like to say is that, “Microsoft is incapable of sustained error”.  By that I mean that Microsoft is an intensely self-conscious culture, fearless about confronting shortcomings and  constantly looking for ways to do things better.  We beat ourselves up pretty brutally about the shortcomings of Vista and committed ourselves to doing better going forward.  This is one of the reasons why Windows Server 2008 was such a good release.  We didn’t stop there, we raised the bar for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
