В наше время стало избитым сетовать на то, что технологии уже не приносят прорывов и не заставляют говорить «ух ты!» (или «wow!» для англофилов). Частота процессоров и объем разных видов памяти растет, а на компьютерах мы можем делать, в общем, все то же самое, что и 10 и 20 лет назад. Я и сам так порой считал, пока в течение последнего года трижды не поймал себя на мысли, что хочется сказать «ух ты», причем в весьма привычных сценариях работы.

We worked on an issue where launching help from within the Visual Studio IDE throws an error message     “Microsoft Document Explorer cannot be shown because the specified help collection ‘ms-help://MS.MSDNQTR.v90.en’ is invalid”.   This message was throw whether the help was set in the VS IDE to external or integrated help

И вот, сходив туда, я сделал интересное наблюдение – в каждом кабинете акушера- гинеколога в поликлинике есть ноутбук, работающий через сеть с единой базой данных.

WinDbg를 이용해서 Kenel debugging을 하려면 디버깅 대상이 되는 Target machine과 이를 디버깅 및 컨트롤 하는 Host machine, 그리고 이 두 컴퓨터를 연결하기 위한 COM, IEEE1394, USB 등의 케이블이 필요합니다. Target machine에서 발생하는 문제점을 파악하기 위해서는 이렇게 물리적으로 분리된 컴퓨터를 이용해서 Kernel debugging을 하는 것이 좋습니다만, 이렇게 PC를 2대 마련하는 것이 쉽지 않습니다. 만약 분석하려는 문제점이 물리적인 장비가 아니라 Virtual PC에서도 재현이 되는 것이라면 간단히 하나의 PC에서 Virtual PC를 이용해서 Target machine을 가상으로 실행해서 Kernel debugging 하는 것이 가능합니다
