One day when I was about fourteen years old, I bought a bunch of fireworks (rockets mostly) from that shady guy who roams the halls of every high school selling contraband. I went over to my friend Don’s house in the afternoon and we really wanted to shoot some of them off – but it was raining outside, and we didn’t want to stand outside getting wet.

So we’ve mentioned a few times in our various corners of the internet that we are  hiring. Some of those positions are for Premier Field Engineers (PFE). I can’t begin to tell you how many times I find myself seeing a version number for SQL Server and not knowing exactly what service pack or cumulative update the build belongs to without quite a bit of pain. I have to admit years ago (ok how about a decade ago) we just had to worry about service packs so I practically had these numbers memorized, but when we introduced the cumulative update model, there were too many build numbers to remember. If you happen to have an ERRORLOG file or can query the SQL Server Engine, you do have some information you can use to determine if a build is RTM or Service Pack.

I’ve done it before and I’m sure many of you have as well: decided I wanted to completely change my life, from diet to exercise to productivity habits to spending and career and family and more. I’ve failed in the attempt to do this at least a few times

Gary Kaye, Fox Business Network, shows off his borrowed Tesla on Cisco’s campus today.  Fox will be broadcasting LIVE from Cisco’s campus all day on June 10th and interviewing Cisco executives and other Silicon Valley peeps, including, I’m told, from Tesla.

AFP: Blogging guru chips away at Great Firewall of China — the Agence France-Press talked to me when I was in Hong Kong about the early days of WordPress.com and our experience with the Chinese firewall. Today we are still sporadically blocked, nothing official but enough that almost everyone in China uses WordPress.org. It’s funny that this story came out almost two months after the interview because I’m wearing that exact same sweater today.
