This post is a little deviation from my Cloud related focus on this blog but I also own the Windows Client Track at Tech Ed Middle East 2011 – Tech Ed is a premier technical education event that takes place once a year at only handful locations around the world. Having it in Dubai for the second year in a row brings a tremendous advantage and value to the region.   My selection of this content is very pragmatic.

Last week I had the great pleasure to present one of the sessions at the Brussels Girl Geek Dinner event held at Microsoft on February 16th. This must really have been the first time doing a job-related presentation where the the majority of the audience was female. Unfortunately I see very few women attending technical events, but that’s just the reality in the industry.

Data is one thing that no-one is short of.  Structured and unstructured data volumes are growing exponentially in most organisations including formal data records, emails, video and mapping data for example. SQL Server is Microsoft’s data management and business intelligence platform that many public sector organisations are already using for their database and business-critical application requirements.
