TechEd は Microsoft が開催している開発者、IT技術者のためのイベント。技術ごとに75分のセッションがたくさん用意されています。 アメリカではこの時期に開催されます。場所は２年ごとに変わります。日本では8月終わりから9月位に毎年横浜で開催されています。 このほかにもPDC（Professional Developer’s Conference）がだいたい2年に一度開催されるほか、MIXが毎年ラスベガスで行われます。これだけいろいろありますが一応役割は違っていたりします。 TechEd:どちらかというと現行製品・テクノロジに関するカンファレンス PDC：今後数年のテクノロジに対してのカンファレンス MIX：Web&デザイナ にフォーカスしたイベント といっても、現行テクノロジはVistaであり、またWin7も場合によっては入るケースも多いです。ほぼ年内確定ですからね。次あのOfficeやVSはまだまだ今の段階でTechEdで紹介されるほどの状態ではないことは、画面などの情報もほぼ出てないことを見ても想像できます。 このあたりの Next Technology は今年も開催予定のPDCに期待したいところです。 おすすめは日本のイベント。アメリカ開催のイベントを基に日本向けに取捨選択、必要に応じて新しいセッションも用意しているのでかなり密度の濃いイベントになっています（その分、スピーカーは苦労しますが）言語の問題なしにQAができるのもポイント高いですからね。

Originally I thought of this as my second departure from Microsoft, but when I consider the multiple stints I have spent as a contractor at Microsoft, I realize this is actually my fifth time to leave the company in one capacity or another. Amazing

Windows 7 Team Blog によるとRCの準備はほぼ完了し、スケジュール通りに進んでおり、4/30にはMSDNとTechNetのサブスクリプションで配布を開始し、一般向けにも5/5に配布するとか。（どこまで一般なのかわかりませんが） Windows 7 Release Candidate Update β版で上がった様々な問題を修正し、また多くのリクエストに対応してかなり大変だったようでsね。タスクバーやエアロピークの振る舞いについて、タッチに関するもの、メディアプレイヤーに対することなど様々。なおそういったリクエストや修正点はここでも見られるようです。 Some Changes Since Beta for the RC A few more changes from Beta to RC… いずれにしても本当ならちょっと待ち遠しいですね。

Wow what a ride the last couple days have been.  As many of you probably noticed we’ve had some problems with the MSDN blogs being available.  Last night we did some emergency maintenance and although problems continued into today we seem to be holding okay now. We are well aware of just how important the blogs hosted at MSDN are to people.  Both inside Microsoft for people wanting to get information out, and outside for people who need the valuable resources we host.  Our performance problems have been unfortunate and we are working to improve the situation for the future. As always, thanks for your continued patience.

Windows Vista では zip ファイルに対応しているので、以下のことができるようになっている。 ツールを入れなくても解凍することができる 「送る」メニューからzipファイルを作成することができる Zipファイルを解凍せずにフォルダのように扱うことができる そして、Windows7 では lzh にも対応し解凍やフォルダのように扱えるようになっている。（送るメニューにはないので現状は作ることはできない） 左側が lzh のファイルアイコン、右側が zip ファイルのアイコン。なぜデザインが異なるのかはわからないが、製品時にはデザインも変わっている可能性もある（変わっていない可能性もある） なんにせよ便利なことには間違いない。

Since Visual FoxPro 9.0 SP2 was released in late 2007, we have released three hotfixes.

I’m still writing up the overview post to describe the goals of the X10 solution but enough folks have asked for the grammar so I’ll just get it out there. I’ve posted the grammar and a sample input file up to the MSDN Code Gallery
