Authentication in WP7 client with REST Services–Part I

In the last drop, we included a sample that demonstrates how to secure a REST web service with ACS, and a client calling that service running in a different security realm: In this case, ACS is the bridge between the WS-Trust/SAML world (Litware in the diagram) and the REST/SWT side (Adatum’s a-Order app) This is just a technical variation of the original sample we had in the book, that was purely based on SOAP web services (WS-Trust/SAML only):   But we have another example in preparation which is a Windows Phone 7 Client.

New Topic on MSDN: WIF Configuration

The WIF online documentation just got a brand-new section , which provides a great reference for the WIF configuration elements. It’s very well written & organized, and certainly beats digging in the config schema ! Try it , I am sure you’ll find some nice feature you may have missed until now, like the chance of specifying in config which claim type you want to use as role , an all-times favourite of mine.

The “Geneva” suite of products get official names

It’s been a good ride: in all these months I developed some emotional attachment to the code name “geneva”, and like with “indigo” it will take some time for me to get used to the official names. At the same time I am excited to see that the official names are the right ones! Let’s see what changed into what, as described in the forefront blog .

The ID Element changes cadence

Back in April we launched the Id Element , our Channel9 show on all things Identity . Since then we more or less kept the rhythm of one show per week, with the exception of the burst during TechEd US for covering all the news in Beta2 . Our efforts have been rewarded by the amazing number of viewers & links: thank you! :-) However you may have noticed that the last interview, a tour de force about FIM from the excellent Alex Weinert , took a bit longer for coming out; and a new one is not up yet

Awesome. Remember my article on Claims-based Identity & cloud on the 16th issue of the Architecture Journal? I already knew that it was translated in Portugues
