My CRM 2011 Validation Framework

I’ve been working on a validation framework for Dynamics CRM 2011.  I’ve published the first cut of the code.  It’s a little rough still, but I’ve been promising the sample to a few customers so I wanted to get the first working version out there.  Right now, it only supports regular expression validation.  However, if you read the home page, you will see how you can get involved in shaping the future of the sample.

Each one is the best – for different definitions of "best" [The BestFitPanel collection of layout containers provides flexible, easy-to-use options for Silverlight, WPF, and Windows Phone applications]

Just over a year ago, a couple of readers asked me about a WPF/Silverlight Panel that arranged things to make “best use” of available space without requiring the developer to set a bunch of stuff up in advance or know how many child elements there would be. Interestingly, this is not a scenario the default Panel implementations handle particularly well…

How well do you Blend? A guest post from Mike Taulty

I was at a recent user group meeting in London attended by Silverlight developers and others interested in the platform and a straw poll provided an interesting bit of insight. The poll question was: “Who uses Expression Blend?” The response was a very low number of the attendees. It didn’t come as a huge surprise to me as I had a fair idea that a lot of Silverlight developers stayed away from the dark, grey chrome of Blend with all of its pop out panels; Preferring to spend their time in the blue and white world of Visual Studio ( with all of its pop out panels – believe me, there’s a lot more than there are in Blend ); Now, I’m no designer but I’ve been working with Expression Blend since before it first shipped when it was known as “Sparkle” and I tend to make the wrong assumption that most people are more or less like me and work with both Visual Studio and Blend open on the same project at the same time.

January Update of the Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools support Copy & Paste

Brandon Watson blogged ( link ) this week about the availability of the January Windows Phone Developer Tools update and I would encourage anyone developing for Windows Phone 7 to install the two updates here. Using this update you’ll have access to some assemblies that will ship with the forthcoming Windows Phone operating system update that will provide copy and paste support along with performance improvements and other enhancements. Starting with the Windows Phone Developer Tools January release, the Windows Phone 7 emulator supports copy and paste and you can use the emulator to ensure your applications are able to use this new feature correctly
